Project Management
Supply chain related project management initiatives are used by Purchasing Services to
facilitate adoption and utilization of new campus-wide supplier business relationships,
enhance the organization's ability to more effectively leverage University buying power,
support the implementation of cutting-edge procure-to-pay technologies to further enhance
the process for buying and paying for products and services, and facilitate major capital
construction projects that will enhance the campus infrastructure for students, staff, and
visitors to the Penn campus.
Strategic Sourcing Managers facilitate projects in collaboration with
School and Center representatives, the University's
Facilities & Real Estate
Services organization, and internal business partners in central
administration.
- Commodity Projects
The Strategic Sourcing Managers develop and manage various commodity projects in
collaboration with School and Center representatives in the pursuit of spend consolidation
and cost containment opportunities. Projects include strategic sourcing, spend analysis,
collaborative buying and specific commodity initiatives.
- Technology Projects
Purchasing Services works collaboratively with central administration business partners to
identify, evaluate and implement cutting-edge technologies to ensure continuous process
improvement and a cost effective procure-to-pay process.
- Tier 1 Manufacturers
The Tier 1 manufacturer contracting and enablement initiative helps Purchasing
Services achieve two goals: leverage annual spend with Penn's top volume
manufacturers and enable manufacturer specific online product catalogs in the
Penn Marketplace.
