A Strategic Alliance with United Parcel Service (UPS)
Penn has established a strategic logistics alliance with UPS that will enable
the University to utilize the UPS logistics services and technologies to provide
a streamlined and efficient process for its outbound package shipping requirements
and inbound campus delivery services.
Express Shipping Services
Effective July 1, 2008, UPS is Penn's exclusive provider of outbound express
shipping services (Ground, Air, and International) for all Penn departments.
The UPS express shipping services contract offers many benefits to Penn faculty
and staff including:
- State-of-the-art online shipping including desk top printed shipping labels,
eliminating the need for completing manual shipping forms.
- Penn negotiated discount pricing so that Penn faculty and staff receive the
best possible price with significant cost savings include a very aggressive cap
on fuel surcharges.
- Enhanced external package tracking and reporting capabilities for School
and Center administrators.
- Internal budgetary controls including online allocation of shipping charges.
