Higher Education Life Sciences Research Products Competitive Bidding Project
Purchasing Services, in its pursuit of new
collaborative buying initiatives,
is participating in a higher education Life Sciences Research Products Competitive
Bidding Project facilitated by the
Educational & Institutional
Cooperative (E&I), the only collaborative buying organization dedicated to
higher education and a Purchasing Services supply chain
alliance partner.
Purchasing Services is partnering with purchasing organizations from approximately
25 other research institutions to competitively bid about $250M of combined annual
purchase volume with specific life sciences suppliers.
Phase I
Phase I of this project is to identity targeted suppliers and aggregate spend data
from the participating organizations. The E&I strategic sourcing committee will
facilitate a Request for Information along with follow-up meetings with the member
strategy team to develop supplier interest in this initiative.
Phase II
Phase II of this project will be a formal competitive bidding process for targeted
suppliers. The project goal is to begin awarded formal supplier contracts by the
end of CY2008. This process and subsequent contracts should produce new cost
containment opportunities for the Penn research community.
Periodic project updates will be listed below. Visit the
E&I collaborative buying site for a complete list of
contracts currently available to the Penn community.
