Purchasing Services

Purchasing Services, a Supply Management business partner, is responsible for strategically leveraging appropriately $800 Million of annual expenditures on construction, equipment, supplies and services to ensure best-in-class procurement services to University faculty and staff. Purchasing Services is also responsible for leveraging an additional $300 Million of annual indirect spend in collaboration with other supply and fulfillment related departments. Management of supplier business relationships and total annual University spend of over $1 Billion is performed in conjunction with the Procure-to-Pay (P2P) Project initiative with the Office of the Comptroller.

A significant portion of spend through Purchasing Services is processed through "actively managed supplier relationships". Commodity responsibilities include everything from office and technology products, research equipment, supplies and chemicals, capital equipment including office and laboratory furniture, professional services, construction and maintenance items, athletic equipment, to dental and veterinary requirements. Purchasing Services utilizes cutting edge eBusiness technologies, innovative supply chain strategies, aggressive contracting and cost containment programs, and utilized local and national collaborative purchasing relationships to leverage the University's buying power.
