Fisher Scientific, one of the
largest laboratory products distributor and manufacturer in the country, is the
University's prime strategic contract supplier of laboratory equipment, supplies,
chemicals and lab furniture and a Penn Marketplace
participating supplier. Fisher Scientific has dedicated sales, customer support, product
specialists assigned to the University and is committed to meeting the University's unique
business requirements. Fisher Scientific sponsors the Laboratory Products Focus Group,
Supplier Product Shows, and offers
Penn
specific product promotions through the Supplier Showcase. Fisher Scientific also
provides financial support for numerous University initiatives.
About the Contract
The Fisher Scientific strategic supplier contract, effective January 1, 2004, is the result
of a formal contract extension negotiated in the winter of
2003. The prime laboratory products contract extension was based on past performance,
positive customer feedback, and Fisher's on-going and consistent support of Penn's
strategic business objectives. The University has realized significant product cost
savings and process efficiencies as a result of the long term strategic business
relationship with Fisher Scientific.
Ordering Information
All Fisher Scientific purchase requests must be processed via the
BEN Buys purchasing system. The Fisher Scientific
online product catalog is available in the Penn Marketplace. The University's
MasterCard Purchasing Card cannot be used for purchases from Fisher Scientific.
Product and pricing information as well as assistance with special orders is available

Fisher Scientific has an on-site Customer Service Office located within the University of
Pennsylvania Purchasing Services office at Suite 421A, 3401 Walnut Street. The following

Purchasing Services is collaborating with Fisher Scientific to maximize its strategic purchasing
opportunities. Fisher Scientific is the most experienced and comprehensive provider of third party
purchasing services in the research market today. Fisher Scientific has been active in third party
purchasing initiatives for over ten years, with major customers in the pharmaceutical and industrial
marketplaces. The goal of Fisher Scientific's third party
purchasing initiative is to help Penn maximize its significant buying power and while increasing
utilization of electronic purchasing technologies.
The Supplier Showcase
This new innovative internal supplier marketing program, the
Supplier Showcase,
enables participating Penn Marketplace suppliers and manufacturers to showcase their corporate news,
promote new products and services, and offer Penn specific product promotions to all Penn faculty
and staff.
